Triptych Treasure Boxes

When hand sculpting the lids I wanted to invite the user to caress and touch them. Like you might a piece of silk or running your fingers through sand. The ridges form the touch points for removing the lids which are made from incredibly beautiful and rare Tamo Ash from Japan. They also remind me of sand-dunes in the gently undulating form. The box sides are from reclaimed grain matched Thai Teak with brass splines. You have to see and touch these to feel how unbelievably smooth and curvaceous they are.
