The sides of the box are hand crafted from purple heart wood, which has gorgeous deep purple and rich brown colours. The grain patterns wrap around all four sides of the box, giving a continuous flow.

 

The lid is made from an exceptional piece of solid burl wood. When the lid is open, the intricate patterns are visible on the inside as well as the outside. Contrasting splines in light colored maple wood add details and strength to the 45 degree mitre joint corners.

 

The solid brass hinges have an internal 95 degree stop and hold the lid up effortlessly when open. (These hinges are the highest quality anywhere in the world and are handmade by a small company in Ireland).

 

The inside bottom of the box is lined in genuine leather.
