This table was commissioned by a Bangkok client for his private residence. After a few discussions to understand his needs I proposed an exceptional slab of reclaimed Afzelia wood. This slab has it all; live edges, burls, voids, and lots of character. I cut the table into a round shape while preserving sections of the live edges and their texture. A contrasting butterfly key in reclaimed wood and patchwork inlay in burl wood were added to repair and strengthen the table top. As per client’s request, I also added one of my signature butterflies in solid brass.
