Custom Tea Tray

Bespoke tea presentation tray I made for Le Normandie, 2 Michelin Star restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Bangkok. This was a fun project with lots of little details! The tray is made from reclaimed teak which was originally a floorboard from an old home. The darker inside inlaid wood is reclaimed wood which came from a massive 6-meter long post. (Also from an old home) It was sliced into planks, book-matched and inlaid flush. The glass jars came from Europe as I wasn’t happy with the optical clarity of the locally available ones. The lids are all made from one plank of reclaimed teak. The difference in grain variation was a design choice and comes from the left and right side of the same plank. The lid knobs and tray feet are precision made from solid brass. The logo plate is acid-etched in solid brass that has softer composition to allow for deeper more pronounced relief. The interior of each recess for the glass containers is lined in leather. All finished with a hand rubbed oil and wax.
